Joshua House Children Home gets timely donation
Services being provided at the Joshua House Children Home will be improved with

funds donated yesterday by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Guyana Chapter.
President of the WFWP, Sheila Chapman-Wong, stated that her organization hosted a tea-party on the lawns of the Joshua House Children Home on October 29 and raised $138,222 which it handed over to the Children Home.
The money would be used to boost the current laundry service offered at the institution (purchasing necessary materials and stocks to ensure that the children’s clothing are washed properly and kept clean).
Last year the WFWP held a tea-party where the proceeds went to the “Haiti Relief Fund”. This year the Joshua House Children Home was the beneficiary of this annual event.
This newspaper understands that the WFWP will continue making donations to this institution, not only monetary, but with individuals volunteering their time and skills to the development of the 65 children presently housed in the Children Home.
The WFWP has been in existence for 20 years meanwhile the Joshua House Children Centre was established in 1977 by Barbara Burrows, daughter of the Guyanese Artist E.R. Burrowes.
The home is maintained through donations in cash or raw materials given by the public. Cash donations would go towards the bills; electricity, water, telephone and transportation.
