Dear Editor,
I am Guyanese first. There is no racial definition of me. If and when other Guyanese view themselves in a similar manner, our country will advance because the politicians will be unable to use the usual race baiting strategy to get our vote.
While I do understand the ethnic insecurities of my brothers and sisters, which have been passed on from generation to generation, I have also met and read about people from various countries who are proud of their nationality; their racial background becomes insignificant, and they are able to vote on issues such as the state of the economy, or crime, as opposed to whether the Presidential or Prime ministerial candidates are of a certain ethnicity.
