Blackberry subscribers have been without service since Wednesday afternoon, with Digicel Guyana
Digicel’s Blackberry and a number of other services went down Wednesday with the company saying that it is working to fix the issues.
yesterday saying that it is suffering connectivity problems.
The company in a statement did not say when the service would be up, but indicated that it will be restored “gradually in the shortest time possible”.
“We are currently experiencing connectivity issues which have resulted in a loss of some services. Our technical team is working assiduously to restore all services,” the mobile company said in its statement yesterday.
As of yesterday, internet services and the popular Blackberry Messenger (BBM) remained down.
Despite its $50,000-plus cost, Blackberry has become a highly in-demand mobile phone for especially office folks always on the go and wanting to keep in contact with clients and access their email. It has also become a fashion statement.
Digicel yesterday also said that it will be providing $300 free credit to all customers who are currently on its network to facilitate communication needs.
“Additional compensation for BlackBerry subscribers who have experienced a complete loss of data services will be addressed tomorrow (today).
The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) is reportedly set to launch its Blackberry service next month.
