Three weeks has elapsed and Basmattie Bisoon, a vendor, who along with five other family members was involved in an accident on the Huis’t Dieren Public Road, Essequibo Coast, remains critical.
Bisoon, according to her sister, Moharani, has not regained consciousness.
Doctors, she said, are feeding the injured woman through a tube while she is kept alive by another tube which allows her to breathe.
Bisoon and her sister, Nandrani Persaud, suffered the worst of a collision with a car driven by a 17-year-old driver. Nandrani is scheduled to undergo surgery.
Moharani Bisnauth, sustained two broken ribs and a broken arm while her husband, Mohibir Bisnauth, who was the driver of the Canter truck sustained a blow to his head.
Susie Persaud also sustained head injuries while 10-year-old, Sunisha Narine suffered a broken leg and is currently hospitalized. The family said they have since lodged statements about the accident and have expressed their concerns about the whereabouts of the 17-year-old driver who collided into them.
On October 7, last, the family was venturing to their Spring Garden home when they narrowly escaped death. Moharani recalled that her husband, Mohibir, observed a car proceeding from the opposite direction.
Mohibir said that he quickly pulled into the corner of the Road and attempted to brake. The driver of the car, the 17-year-old, attempted to avoid colliding with another vehicle on the Huis’t Dieren Public Road and collided with Mohibir’s vehicle.
