DEAR EDITOR,
With the election date confirmed, all elected candidates are tensely awaiting the final judgment. Guyana has seen a significant change in its economy since the PPP has taken office in 1992 and I strongly support the initiative of its new Presidential Candidate Mr. Donald Ramotar, towards the development of our country.
Donald is a trained economist, a consideration that strengthens his CV for Presidential eligibility. As a growing nation, still delicate and fragile in many ways, Guyana needs someone with a clear economic vision and profound insight on how to move this country in the direction that would give it a noble destiny.
Donald’s mind is always fertile with progressive ideas, and with adequate latitude to operate, he would ensure that those ideas blossom into fruitful actions that benefit all. He demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills by taking the Party to victory in all elections during his tenure. Indeed, no one ever challenged his position, and this alone is illustrative of peer support for his status and competence.
Unlike a growing number of leaders, Donald is not tainted with suspicion of corruption, venality and ineptitude. His political canvas is immaculately clean and none dare to impugn the integrity and probity of this colossus who towers above machinations of lesser men.
I read an article by APNU saying that it will drop VAT to 10 % and raise the threshold to GY$100,000…total nonsense. If this could be done, wouldn’t the PPP do it? But the opposition don’t think when they talk.
President Jagdeo has brought Guyana to a level where Guyanese can enjoy life without fear. Imagine food was in some cases a criminal act under the PNC regime.
There were many lines people had to join to buy rice, sugar, salt etc. Would Guyanese want to live those days again?
I have no qualms and reservations about putting Guyana into the hands of a leader whose diligence, incorruptibility and sincerity would ensure progress, prosperity and peace for all Guyana. I am therefore calling on all Guyanese to come out and vote for a leader that will continue the same path that President Jagdeo has left.
Long live the PPP! Shivraj Raghubar
