A group of women, some initially unsure of the nature of a protest conducted outside the C.N. Sharma Channel 6 building last evening, paraded with placards chanting child molestation charges against the television station owner, C.N. Sharma.
One woman claimed that she is the mother of two and she would not take lightly to the offence of molestation. That same woman early that evening, after receiving the placard which was dropped off by a car, was shocked to know that she had come to protest against C.N. Sharma.
The woman said she was at a birthnight celebration in Ruimveldt when she was asked by the chairman to appear as a representative against child molestation. She said that she had no idea it was against Sharma.
According to her she thought she would be appearing on television where the protest would be conducted by C.N. Sharma and she felt nervous to go on television.
Another mother also said that she was recruited in the Albouystown area where she was also asked by the said person to be part of the demonstration.
Persons as they passed the demonstrators cursed and booed the women claiming that they were paid to conduct the protest.
As the crowd began to grow the women were now forced to defend their reasons for protesting at this time knowing that Sharma was a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.
The chairman of the so-called organization called MOM, Mothers opposing Molestation, proclaimed their innocence. They said that the matter was not being politically driven. “This is not a political matter”, they said.
“We are not concerned about Jagdeo and Sharma. We are here to voice our opinions,” the woman yelled.
