Mediation expanded to Region Six
Sixty-three residents of Region Six received their Mediation Training

Certificates on Wednesday. The ceremony took place at the Little Rock Suites Conference Room in New Amsterdam.
Each participant completed a 40-hour training programme that will enable them to serve as mediators for cases in the court where the parties have elected to go to mediation in lieu of court proceedings.
The training of the Region Six mediators coincides with the expansion of court ordered mediation services in the Region and the construction of a Mediation Centre at the High Court offices in New Amsterdam.
Prior to the expansion of this service into Region Six court ordered mediation was only available in Region Four.
The mediation training programme in Berbice was conducted by Ms Donna Parchment- Brown and Mr. Paul Hines of the Dispute Resolution Foundation, Kingston, Jamaica.
Justice Carl Singh, Chancellor of the Judiciary; Mr. William Gelman, General Development Officer, USAID Guyana; Mr. Dickson Bailey, Chief of Party, Governance Enhancement Project and Mr. Colin Chichester, Mediation Coordinator, Supreme Court were among those at the certificate ceremony.
