Dear Editor,
I am a staff member of Republic Bank for just under two years. I hang my head in shame after reading the two letters which appeared in the press.
I am aware of the saying silence is consent, but the fact that the management, executives and/or the board have not responded to these letters has prompted me to pen this letter.
Everything said is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
I have come to understand the style of these top brass people. When they are right they move in for the kill, or should I say when they think they are right.
They are witch hunting and have dismissed an employee claiming that that staff did not use the funds granted to him via a loan for the purpose it was approved for.
That is a common practice by our external customers. However, to date I have no knowledge of any similar action against them.
Ironically, this staff reports to a “man of God” yet the dismissed staff was left out in the wilderness. The “man of God” fed him to the wolves. Again there is a Bible Club at our Head Office and at least five members of that club, who are senior managers, could have petitioned for a less severe penalty but chose not to. Shame on you all. Maybe you guys need to be reminded that God does not sleep.
As a kid going to school, when I passed by the bank on Camp Street I used to say I will work here one day. Now that I am doing so, it is done with a heavy heart, and with much regrets.
My parents were active Union persons and I feel, indeed as was said in both letters, the staff needs to stand united. Sad RBGL Staff
