After almost two months on the run the suspect in the murder of Pomeroon resident Alexis Smith has been captured by the police.
The suspect was nabbed on Friday at a place call Warapana in the Upper Pomeroon River.
Alexis Smith, 43 also of Warapana had been reported missing on July 26 last, and his body was later found in the river at Aripiaco, Upper Pomeroon three days after,
A post mortem examination was subsequently done by Dr. Nehaul Singh who gave the cause of death as blunt trauma to the head and asphyxiation due to drowning.
Police say that the suspect is cooperating with investigators.
