The President, Manager, Executives, players and members of Albion Community Centre Cricket Club wishes to congratulate 25 year-old leg spinner, Devendra Bishoo for winning the ICC Emerging Player-of-the-Year 2011.
Bishoo who is the club fourth test cricketer has overcame other competitors such as his West Indies Team mate Darren Bravo during the voting period to won the award.
“Bishoo has made us all proud and this is a well deserved award for our young leg-spinner. We hope that he remembers the values of the game and continues to portray his dominance on the field,” Muthuswammi Permaul, Club Manager, stated.
Bishoo played five Test matches taking 21 wickets at an average of 35.42 during the voting period. He also took 19 wickets in eleven One Day Internationals at an average of 21.51.
Bishoo who also copped the Player of the Tournament Award in the Caribbean Twenty20, 2010, is presently preparing for their long three month tour to England, Bangladesh and India.
Sew Shivnarine, Narsingh Deonarine and Sewnarine Chattergoon are the other Albion players to play Test cricket.
