Dear Editor,
PPP lost moral authority to continue governing, given WikiLeaks’s revelations of narco association and non-committal to crime fighting. The nation must now unite to ensure safety and rid itself of lawlessness.
Guyanese must resist efforts to make them pawns by using narco criminality and state terrorism as political weapons to divide and rule and continue their misrule.
Either side of the divide we will both suffer and lose our loved ones to those who seek to rule by any means necessary.
With the WikiLeaks revelations that the Shaheed ‘Roger” Khan narco criminal empire gained protection from the PPP/ Jagdeo regime, as a nation we know we have hit rock bottom. We can all say unequivocally, that never before in the history of this country has such a scenario ever occurred. This continued criminal politics must stop before more are consumed.
If U.S ambassadors and other officials were threatened, resulting in Ambassador Bullen expressing fear for his life and requesting port to port security and other enhanced security measures, then every Guyanese must ask the simple question, “How safe are we?”
How safe are we under the PPP administration that today is being exposed by U.S leaked confidential information as harbouring narco criminals such as Roger Khan? WikiLeaks reveal that various members of the PPP government, including Ministers, worked closely with and sheltered drug lords. This is not political propaganda. This is not coming from the opposition political parties or those whom the PPP call anti-PPP.
WikiLeaks also revealed that the Jagdeo administration is one of lies, corruption and terrorism, with the President, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon, Minister of Health Dr Leslie Ramsammy and former Minister of Home Affairs Ronald Gajraj being the kingpins.
It is time also for every Guyanese, regardless of race, colour, class, political association and creed to denounce this government as unfit to govern. We must denounce every single one of them, for silence since continued association is tacit support. Guyanese must reject them.
The U.S reports that Roger Khan had brokered deals with FARC-the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia which is Latin America’s oldest and largest guerrilla organization- and a threat to U.S’ national interest. Yet some, including the PPP, would want Guyanese to believe that a man with such powerful criminal activities and connections, and ruthless influence would be a blessing to our nation.
Guyanese cannot afford to be silent to what has become of our land under the PPP/Jagdeo regime, where wanton criminality is considered acceptable. We cannot be blinded or immobilised by fear, or the influence of the criminals who buy respect by flaunting material wealth and throwing money around.
It would only be a matter of time before Guyana is known as little Colombia, where drug lords threaten the State security and compromise every branch of government to exercise their criminal influence and guarantee their safety.
Already one Minister who apparently opposed the narco expansion was brutally murdered. The Jagdeo/ PPP government is reportedly unwilling to get U.S help to curtail the narco trade and associated brutal criminality.
Instead President Jagdeo, Roger Luncheon, Leslie Ramsammy and others are prepared to lie and undermine security ventures offered by the US and UK to bring justice to this man’s death and the hundreds of others and giver closure to their loved ones to see the mastermind(s) before the court and noose around their necks.
PPP does not want a safe society with reduced crime
Let us resolve to fight together to rid our land of the lawlessness that threatens our survival, security, development and peaceful co-existence.
Lincoln Lewis
