Sans Souci and Good Success have secured their places in the final of the Salim Speed Boat Service 40 Over cricket competition after registering victories in their respective semifinal matches recently in Wakenaam.
On Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground, Sans Souci encountered a few nervous moments before they eventually overcame Zeelandia by 4 wickets. Zeelandia batted first after the game was reduced to 30 overs due to rain, they fell for 115 in the final over of the innings. Gowkarran Pooran with 35 and Dharmendra Pooran 22 were their leading run getters against the bowling of Seon Venture 3-22, Varounie Sasepaul 3-18 and Keddernauth Narain 3-15.
Sans Souci in reply knocked off the required target in 21 overs ending on 117-6. Ramnarine returned to hit 25 while Jetendra Persaud made 19 and Sasepaul 17 as national U-19 player Ricardo Adams captured 3-20 and Dharmendra Pooran 2-25.
Previously at the said venue, Good Success made light work of Maria’s Pleasure winning by 9 wickets. Maria’s Pleasure were routed for a paltry 86 in 22 overs after taking first strike. Susie Charderban 17 and Ryan Gordon 13 were the only batsman that reached double figures as pacer Bernard Lewis picked up 4-16 and Imran Khan 3-8.
Good Success in response scored 83 all out in 13 overs with Abdool Salim leading the way with an unbeaten 33, while fellow opener Arjune Persaud made 28 before he was caught of Emmanuel Lewis with victory 12 runs away. Shamsudeen Mohamed, who hit Lewis to the point boundry to seal the game, was unbeaten of 5. The final is expected to be played on Sunday at the said venue.
