Some GPL employees have no respect for people and their privacy

Dear Editor,
I would like to express my utmost dissatisfaction towards some ill-mannered Guyana Power and Light company (GPL)’s employees who conduct routine check-ups in Foulis Housing Scheme on the East Coast of Demerara, especially on Sundays.
On Sunday, September 04, 2011, while I was doing house chores in the yard, a female GPL employee opened the gate and entered the yard, passed me straight and went up the stairway to check the meter without saying a word. I attempted to talk to her, but she proceeded with her routine and left.
She did not provide form of identification. She was attired with the company’s t-shirt as the only form identification and she was accompanied by two other GPL employees. I have three dogs and if she was bitten I would have not taken responsibility.
This is the third time a GPL employee has entered my family’s premises without respect, acknowledgement or regard for me or my family’s privacy. These employees should be reminded that we are paying for the company’s services and do not have to tolerate their unruly behavior.
This type of behavior seems to be a common attribute among many public sector employees. Many residents in Foulis are becoming victims of this intolerable act. This is totally unacceptable.
As long as this continues I will keep on writing even if I have to go to the extent of taking pictures of these persons.
