Dear Editor,
Ronald Sanders will never understand the reasons for the rebellion in the UK, because in Guyana, he was a staunch supporter of the Burnham dictatorship. He was always on the side of the oppressor and not the oppressed. Even when he was living in the UK, he would not have experienced racism and discrimination like the Blacks or Asian-looking person. He raises some symptoms of the ongoing world crisis – which are rooted in the economic and social system that have enslaved us for centuries and have drastically underdeveloped our countries, but still could not draw the obvious conclusion.
The fact that those who rebelled on the streets of London and the other cities of England were from the younger generation of all races tells the whole story about the class nature of the uprising. It was something that was ready to happen and the fact that no one saw it tells a lot about their level of involvement at the grassroots level. No one there was prepared for it, least of all the so-called revolutionary groups and parties.
This violent event has shocked the sleeping masses into action that will come like a tsunami and will change the nature of British society as we know it. The current world economic crisis is irresolvable and only a political uprising from below – with matured leadership- can transform British society and the world. M.J. Rahaman
