The Bartica Market has been without electricity since last Thursday, after Guyana Power and Light launched its disconnection campaign against those defaulting consumers on Bartica.
This development, the vendors said, now even further compounds their plight. A few months ago the water supply to the Bartica Market was also cut off .
Reports are that the vendors in the Bartica Market have been paying their dues to ply their trade and are now extremely disgusted that owing to no fault on their behalf.
They now have to suffer without electricity and water and as a result the market is now closing earlier than normal .
Vendors are also complaining of persons being allowed to sell at the back of the market.
Meanwhile the garbage pile up at the side of the market continues to be a nuisance to both the public and snackette owners in the Bartica Market.
