Dear Editor,
I read your front page article a week ago about the little baby boy who was found abandoned on the Merriman Mall.
I felt a feeling of pain and anger as I tried to imagine what might have caused the mother of that beautiful baby boy to carry out such an act. We have to admit that in our society today women are faced daily with different circumstances in life, some of which are very complicated.
The crux of the matter, however, is that we have choices and as a mother who would have carried that child for nine long months, dumping the baby as a way out should not have even been considered an option.
There are millions of women who are longing to have children of their own, and yet there are others who are doing away with what God would have given them. I am the father of two wonderful kids and each time I see them playing I can’t imagine life with out them.
Kaieteur News, we are thankful to you that you helped to bring these events to the public. I pray and hope that never again will we read of such a story. God bless all the great mothers of Guyana and may he help those who are faced with various hardships to find their way and embrace the true meaning of motherhood. Quado Vancooten
