The second round of the female’s 50-over cricket competition continued yesterday at Demerara Cricket Club Ground with Georgetown defeating East Bank by 37 runs.
The toss was won by East Bank after which captain June Ogle Thomas, decided to field. Georgetown scored a total of 190 runs all out in 49.2 overs which included 50 extras, with Onika Wallerson 55 not out and captain Victoria Bacchus 54 passing the half century barrier.
Leana Harris of East Bank captured three wickets for 36 runs in 9.2 overs bowling one maiden, while Donnetta Ritchie took two wickets for 41 in 7.4 overs and Prudence Williams captured 1 wicket for 21 bowling four maidens in 10 overs. East Bank made a total of 153 runs all out (including 42 extras) with the skipper Ogle Thomas leading the charge with a well played 75, with Prudence Williams the next best score of 20. Georgetown’s Nicola Leacock captured four wickets at a cost of 11 runs in 2.4 overs. Akeaze Thompson claimed two with wickets, bowling one maiden in 3.3 overs and Latoya Smith taking two wickets in 5 overs at a cost of 14 runs.
The third round of the Demerara Female Inter-Association 50-over competition continues today with West Demerara versus Georgetown at Demerara Cricket Club Ground and East Coast against East Bank at Police Ground, Eve Leary from 9:30am.
