A father and son were among three people killed at around 17:30 hrs yesterday after a truck laden with lumber and other materials overturned at Matthew’s Ridge in the North West District.
Sources identified two of the victims as Leon Abrams and his son, Trevor Abrams, both of Matthew’s Ridge.
The identity of the third man was still unknown at press time. Kaieteur News understands that the truck, GMM 2716, was heading downhill when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. Reports state that some of the passengers were pinned beneath the lumber and an all-terrain vehicle, which were in the truck at the time.
The vehicle is owned by an Arakaka businessman.
Reports state that at least four other persons suffered injuries and were rushed to the Matthew’s Ridge Hospital.
