Dear Editor,
I wish to satirize the pronunciation or TV of some very senior government officials with the hope that they would correct themselves. If they do, they would become role models for the young and impressionable.
Some of these men’s disgraceful and embarrassing utterances are as follows: One minister is tryin very hard to gettin it right. He is claimin that the registerin of voters is producin confusion and is perplexin. He is objectin to and claimin that in preparin the voters list there is constant changin and alterin.
A more senior functionary who appears regularly on TV like his boss is more scandalous. Both of them are consistently guilty of sayin de for the; dey for they; dem for them; doze for those; and dese for these.
They would always say conduck, contrack and acqueduck etc.
No wonder Guyanese are the laughin stock in the Caribbean and of well-spoken visitors.
Although the examples cited above are but few they make disgustin and embarrassin listenin.
