The Guyana Draughts Association (GDA) held its Annual General Meeting recently at its Headquarters in Georgetown and incumbent Mr. Jairam was unanimously elected President for a second term.
Charles Hetemeyer was elected Vice-Chairman and Auditor of the Association, while Wayne Forde is the Organizing Secretary and Khemraj Pooranmall is the Secretary.
Mark Braithwaite was retained as Treasurer while Patrick DeFreitas and Balleram Ramdeen were elected trustees. Marlyn Ali and Troy Griffith are the two Board members.
The President thanked the members for electing him for a second term and informed that a Pan-AM games official from Trinidad was enquiring about Guyana’s involvement in this year’s Draughts events.
He added that discussions have been held to have a Guyana/Suriname tournament later this year.
Jairam is calling on all Draught players countrywide to develop their skills on the hundred square board since this is the more popular game played at International level, especially in Suriname and Trinidad at the Pan-AM games.
