Police have arrested a man who drove his vehicle in such a dangerous manner on Sunday night that he caused a four- vehicle smash up, which left 46-year old Thajram Singh dead.
Singh was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was rushed minutes after the car hit him on the Vryheid’s Lust Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
This newspaper had incorrectly stated in a previous edition that the victim was 70-year-old Robert White.
White, who was the victim in another road accident, was treated at another city hospital and sent home.
Police in a press release yesterday, stated that motor car PFF 4740 was proceeding along the roadway at a fast rate when it hit the pedestrian, Thajram Singh, who was attempting to cross the road.
Reports stated that the driver of the car had fled the scene of the accident but was subsequently captured by police.
