The impounded Toyota Allion, PMM, 4315 in the compound of Wales Police Station
The driver involved in an accident that claimed the life of seven-year-old Althea Clement Sunday evening in Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara, is to be charged this week with causing death by dangerous driving.
According to reports, Frederick Clement, the dead girl’s father, was walking with his daughter in Sisters Village when Toyota Allion PMM 4315 which was approaching at a fast rate struck. It dragged the child under the vehicle and knocked her father into a nearby drain.
Althea Clement was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital and her father was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was admitted.
Clement, 50, of 20 Patentia Housing Scheme West Bank Demerara, recalled that it was the moment when the driver came out the motorcar and saw him in the trench that he tried to escape.
The injured man sustained severe lacerations to several parts of his body and even lost a finger. The man is said to be employed at Ezekiel Funeral Home.
Relatives disclosed that the injured man recently moved into Patentia Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara after leaving Berbice with his daughter and son about one month ago.
