Dear Editor,
As an anti-racism/human rights activist I am often amazed at some of the commentaries and positions taken with respect to race relations in Guyana.
Where do these people get their ideas?
The recent comments of Mr. Sam Hinds, the Prime Minister of Guyana immediately spring to mind.
In a nut-shell, for him to suggest PNC supporters apologise for – allegedly – rigged elections during the period of the PNC government is simply ludicrous – especially coming from a supposedly intelligent public official.
If Hinds would like those supporters to apologise for the PNC years, then perhaps a joint apology would be entirely appropriate.
He might be perceived credible if he publicly, use his high office to encourage PPP supporters to take similar responsibility and apologise for the widespread corruption of the government during the past 19 years. June Veecock
