The Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club opening Drag Meeting which was scheduled to be staged on May 1, at the South Dakota Circuit has been postponed to a later date.
This is according to a source close to the club, who said that the postponement was due mainly to the fact that Suriname, one of the biggest supporters of the local event will be hosting a similar Meeting in the neighbouring country and Guyanese competitors have signalled their intentions to participate in the activity.
The source added that it was felt that because the two dates clashed and Guyana has not participated in Suriname for sometime the competitors agreed to travel to the Dutch country to offer their support this time around.
A new date for the local Meeting will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, the composition of Guyana’s representatives at the event has not been confirmed as yet, but the source promised to release it to the media as soon as it becomes available.
