Dear Editor,
I wish to clarify a detail in the letter, “JOPP will never accomplish anything as long as GAP/ROAR are involved” (Kaieteur News 04-16-11). In his involvement with the Joint Opposition Political Parties (JOPP), Mr. Everall Franklin is representing the Guyana Action Party (GAP), and from what I have read in the press, he has always made this quite clear.
Because GAP and ROAR entered the 2006 elections as a coalition, he has been the GAP-ROAR MP. However, since ROAR as an entity folded up its tent after the elections, Mr. Franklin has in effect represented GAP during his tenure in Parliament. As a matter of fact, there has been no communication between Mr. Franklin and myself, during that time.
For what it is worth, I think Mr. Franklin performed quite credibly in his remit and I wish him well in his efforts with JOPP. Ravi Dev
