Digicel sponsored U-23 Athletics Meet on today

Following substantial support from Digicel, the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG) will host an Under-23 Track and Field today at the Police Sports Club Ground where several of Guyana’s premier talents will match strides for glory and bragging rights.
If the excellent weather conditions from yesterday persist today, athletics fans will certainly be in for a treat with several big names, including 2010 Junior Sportsman of the Year, Chavez Ageday giving a preview of what can be expected at the CARIFTA Games.
In accepting the sponsorship cheque from Digicel, AAG President, Colin Boyce lauded the effort of the telecommunication giants to keep track and field as a mainstream sport. He said that many other companies should emulate the corporate vision of Digicel.
The company had initiated support for the event last year and had pledged to continue support of the meet based on its success. Digicel is also a foremost sponsor of the President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic that will have its Second Edition on May 22 in Linden.
In handing over the funding for the AAG U-23 Meet, Digicel’s Public Relations Officer, Shonnet Moore said that the company is pleased to be associated with the event. She said that Digicel will continue to play its role in the development of sports in Guyana.
