Dear Editor,
Your article (Kaieteur News, April 11) captioned “Interdicted ranks still to be re-instated” is no surprise. In my article of three weeks ago I wrote on the image of the Guyana Police Force GPF, particularly under the watch of Commissioner Henry Greene.
Greene has respect for one person: Greene.
Not his subject Minister, not the President, and certainly not 95% of his subordinates.
The GPF is in disarray. Greene has no interest to see it better. Why should he? He already received his benefits; he is on a month-to-month basis. It is a matter of time.
So why lose sleep?
Greene’s record as a policeman has been abysmal. His protégés are of similar ilk. We have a GPF operating like a beheaded chicken.
Little wonder we have so much corruption. Every matter which a police rank handles is an opportunity for the rank to make a raise. Godfrey Skeete
