Following weeks of wrangling among affiliates, with the Georgetown Football Association making several charges and demanding voting rights at the First Annual Ordinary Congress, the Executive Committee of the Guyana Football Federation, in a release announced the postponement of that meeting.
The release informed that at a meeting on Thursday 14th April 2011, the GFF has decided to postpone its First Annual Ordinary Congress, originally scheduled for 16th April 2011. The decision of the Executive Committee was prompted by the fact that the constitutional requirement of six (6) weeks prior notification for the Congress was short by three (3) days.
The Congress will now be held on 27th May 2011, at 17:00 hrs at the Ocean View Hotel Conference room.
Within this time the affiliates seeking voting and other rights will be moving to have discussions to ensure the GFF note their concerns.
