Environmental impact assessment needed
Dear Editor,
I wish to thank Janette Bulkan for her well researched letter, “Exporting Guyana’s timber to create wealth in India”.
In addition to the points made by Ms. Bulkan, I would like to know if the Indian company, Vaitarna Holdings Private Inc, would be made accountable with regards to responsible environmental husbandry.
Will there be an environmental impact assessment done before harvesting of lumber is done? If not, why not?
