The daily crime is fuelling migration
Dear Editor,
I have become sick to the core of my bone, deep into my bone marrow, to read of the daily crime that is taking place in this land of ours that we call home. O beautiful Guyana, O my lovely native land.
It seems that crime has now become a way of life for the Guyanese people since every day one can read in the press or hear on the news of theft ,robberies, killings, shootings, murders, banditry etc, etc. The lives of Guyanese are in daily jeopardy from bandits who attack in packs of three, four, and five according to the resistance they expect to encounter. They come with their guns, cutlass, welding torch, sledge hammer and whatever tool they deem necessary to demolish your building, concrete wall, grill door or window. Recently in Canje, the home of Rooplall Roopchand was attacked and his windows chopped.
This may sound racial, Mr Editor, but the statistics will show that most times it is the home of an East Indian or the business of an East Indian that suffers these attacks. Is it any wonder why East Indians are fleeing Guyana?
The Government may be in denial that East Indians are fleeing Guyana because it has its own agenda — to be in Government come what may.
It is no secret that the majority of East Indians vote for the PPPC and it is under this Government that they have to endure these criminal elements. Since they are not willing to change the Government, then the alternative is to change their country
Crime started in 2002. This is 2011— nine years of crime and it is getting worse day by day but this PPPC Government will not remove its blindfold to see reality.
The security sector has failed this nation for its citizens to live in peace and free from fear. As soon as you slip and leave a window or door open the bandits appear from nowhere and then disappear. They always make good their escape even if they are on foot or bicycle.
The police will recover spent shells and announce the finding with pride but they never can catch the bandits.
I wonder what the C in PPPC is for. I am told it is for Civic but I more believe the C is for Crime or Corruption or Communism or Capitalism or Crooks or Cockwork.
Sir, the Guyanese citizenry not only want Laptop, we want protection which is not what we are getting because the goat man is not the right man for the job.
