Donald Ramotar is a man of integrity; a man with the common touch

Dear Editor,
Sincere congratulations to the next President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, the Honorable (soon to be His Excellency) Donald Ramotar, on his selection as the PPP/C Presidential candidate.
Donald Ramotar is a man of integrity; a man with the common touch; a man of the people who feels the pain of ordinary Guyanese; and a candidate I can support.
To ensure a smooth transition, it is my hope that Mr. Ramotar gets the opportunity now to review all major contracts awarded for government projects for transparency, feasibility, and worthiness to the Guyanese people. I also hope that he commits to passing the long overdue Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) within his first 90 days in office, as I’m sure this would not happen under the Jagdeo Administration.
A few days ago, I received a nasty, vicious letter from someone who was so impressed with my earlier letters, he requested to be my facebook friend. Colin Woolford was pleased with my criticism of the Jagdeo Administration.
But when I exercised my right of fairness and objectivity and reminded young Guyanese of the sufferings we as a nation experienced under the PNC regime in the 70’s and 80’s, I’m no longer his “pal”.
This letter was written by a person with a sick mind, and I am fearful that there may be others out there that harbour such evil thoughts.
In his letter, Colin Woolford wrote in parts: “Hello Gilley, I have been following your letters for quite some time. I have noticed your shift from wanting a better Guyana to selling your soul for the bread that the devil need.
It is alleged that you write for a fee for the PPP. I noticed you are sparing with ‘Freddie Mike Tyson’. All Guyana is waiting to see that knockout punch that will send (you) permanently to the great beyond. It is rumoured that you have become the barking dog for the PPP.
Your master has been telling all that they are buying milk for you and your family. You must be proud of yourself Gilley Come home Gilley, I want ‘Killaman’ to hit you down. I want Kwamme to seduce your son.
I want Ganda to rape your daughter. Come home Gilley! In the eyes of the intellectuals of this country, they laugh at you. I will be watching my friend. First Freddie will fire that knockout punch .The PPP will cut off your milk supply when you run out of Fart. Like Joseph O’Lall, George Bacchus, Navin Chandapal, Henry Jeffery, and 100 more.” There is more to this, but some words cannot be repeated here.
Mr. Editor, the last time I saw Mike Tyson, he was knocked down, washed up, and breeding pigeons now.
The same goes for ‘Freddie Mike Tyson’. Nobody believes the lies he peddles anymore. Colin Woolford has a mind that is sheer evil, for what normal person would wish to see my son seduced by a homosexual, and my daughter raped? My daughter has her Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and puts sex offenders in prison for a living, so she would be the wrong person to mess with. But if this is the mindset of the PNC supporters, nothing has changed.
Why is it so difficult for people to understand that I care only about the welfare of my fellow Guyanese and the progress of my country? Why can’t I criticise both Corbin and Jagdeo if those leaders are not working in the best interest of all Guyanese? Why can’t PNCR supporters acknowledge and accept the rigging of elections and bankrupting of the country in the 28 years of PNC rule, the same way they accuse the PPP/C of corruption, mismanagement, and not doing enough to stem the surge in violent crime? Why can’t people just call a spade, a spade?
I am neither PPP/C nor PNCR and never have been. I am not being paid a fee by the PPP/C for being objective… I will do that for free.
Of all the Presidential candidates, I believe Donald Ramotar is best positioned to continue the ongoing infrastructural development taking place in Guyana and I would be his worst nightmare if he deviates from this.
I also believe that David Granger if elected would waste time in office, squander public funds and resources to find ways to prosecute Bharrat Jagdeo and his cabinet ministers, as he already had indicated. Guyana needs to move forward, and though Donald Ramotar does not have the academic qualifications as his opponents, his vast political, leadership and managerial experience, coupled with his integrity and common touch are reasons enough to win my support, but as always, I reserve the right to exercise my opinion for no one buys me ‘milk’.
