Following an entertaining opening night of play in the inaugural Carib Twenty20 knock-out cricket competition at the Bartica Community centre Ground on Saturday evening, no play was possible on day two (Sunday) due to heavy rainfall.
On the opening night, North Essequibo and Hopkinson Mining Bartica ‘A’ won their respective matches against Pomeroon and East Bank Essequibo to book their places in the semifinals set for Saturday.
All systems were in place for play on day two but the elements above had the final say which has now forced the organisers, D&C Promotions (Deon Ferrier and Charles Jones) to make some adjustments to fixtures.
Ferrier informed that Central and North Essequibo have agreed to play their game tomorrow at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground while the Bartica ‘B’ / Wakenaam/Leguan Combine fixture will be played on Friday evening at the Bartica Community Centre Ground from 18:30hrs.
The winners from these remaining quarterfinal games will play in Saturday’s semifinals with the grand final and third place match-up’s set for Sunday.
The first place team will walk away with a whopping $400,000 and trophy with $200,000 set aside for the team placing second; $100,000 will be presented to the winner of the 3rd place encounter while $50,000 goes to the team placing fourth.
