Dear Editor,
It is perhaps appropriate to consider how much it would take for us to act outside of our mandate as a commissioned officer. As reported in the Kaieteur News the $30,000 has a particular ring to it – not unlike the “thirty pieces of silver.” Who do these persons of interest owe their allegiance to? Is it to the army hierarchy or a voice from a figure in a smoke filled backroom concocting our next embarrassment?
The President, in is speech to the Joint Services on Thursday 03/03/2011 alluded to the lack of “speed” in cleaning up the Buxton gangs. What he forgot to mention was that more confidence was placed with the now convicted drug dealer Roger Khan and his gang than with the army and police.
Having the experience of not trusting his Joint Services in the past, a parallel security arrangement not dissimilar to what was there during the time of the marauding gangs is once again being foisted upon us.
Who exactly are these “special agents” targeting? Are they targeting citizens, or past and present members of the Joint Services? Everall Franklin
