Works to correct defects on several roads in Westminster, West Bank Demerara, have started with heavy equipment in the area Wednesday and Thursday. Several residents, earlier this week, had complained to Kaieteur News of sloppy work by the contractor, Kares Engineering Inc. which had been awarded contracts to the tune of over $131M for roads in the Parfait Harmonie early last year. The Ministry of Housing and Water had assured that it has withheld monies from Kares and that the contractor was obligated to fix the work which was blamed on heavy rains during the works.
