A post mortem performed on the remains of 40-year-old Andy Whyte of Port Kaituma has revealed that he died as a result of multiple stab wounds. Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh on Monday, last, travelled to the interior location where the PM was conducted.
According to reports, Whyte sustained some 12 stab wounds to the body.
Also, the friend with whom Whyte was last seen, up to press time yesterday was still in police custody.
On Thursday last, the dead man’s reputed wife made a report to the Port Kaituma Police Station that he was missing after he left for a known location in the Eye Lash backdam. The missing person report was made after Whyte failed to return on schedule from collecting production from a mining location. However, the friend who left Port Kaituma with Whyte, returned to the village alone.
On Saturday, last, police responded to reports that the body of a man was spotted in the trail leading to the Eye Lash Backdam. A team of investigators was dispatched to the location and Whyte’s decomposing remains were found.
Investigations are ongoing.
