As part of a course requirement for DSW 314: Community Practice, five final year Social Work students conducted an intervention with a less fortunate single-parent family in the North East La Penitence Squatting Area.
The family consists of a mother, Shondell Bledman, and her eight children ranging in age from one to 17 years.
They live in a shack that has no electricity or access to running water.
The students worked with the family over an eight-week period from November to this month while giving assistance through the provision of foodstuff, clothing, books, a kerosene stove and a mosquito net among other items.
