RETRACTION
In yesterday’s edition of Kaieteur News a story titled “$111M disparity in bids to repair West Coast Demerara Public Road” was carried on pages two and six.
We wish to point out that on page six, in the table titled ‘Upgrading Roads at Great Diamond, EBD, Region Four’ the second bidder is identified as Courtney Benn Contracting Services Ltd. (CBCSL).
This was not the case, however, since CBCSL never bid on this project and is no way connected to it. The name that should have been listed as a bidder was CB General Contracting Services.
But it did not escape notice that when the bid was drawn and representatives of the company were asked to identify themselves, none of them did although they were present.
The similarity in the names of the two companies was the cause of the inadvertent error and Kaieteur News wishes to apologize for any misunderstandings that may have arisen.
