Dear Editor,
I have a simple message to deliver to Guyanese – do not split the vote – vote AFC.
I would like to urge that party to adopt this message and make it a winning slogan like Obama did when he took the White House against all odds, with ‘Can we do it, yes we can’!
This catchy phrase brought back memories of those heady patriotic days in school when we sang that national song, Let us co-operate, for Guyana, which I’m sure many people will remember and which you sang with gusto and heart. I think “do not split the vote – vote AFC AFC will resonate with many of our people especially the younger generation, which I have projected along with the Amerindian vote to be the deciding factors in the next poll. This message will be positively received because we have tried both the PNC and the PPP and they have tried their best to give us a better life, but both of them have fallen short. I will not go into details of their shortcomings or whatever little positives they have done. The point is they could have done way better! Why after 50 plus years we are still an impoverished nation with our eyes firmly set on the prize of a visa out of Guyana. I feel that with a new party in office Guyanese will get a chance to dream again, since it will no longer be PNC and PPP, but only the AFC. With the AFC in power we can at least give the ‘Audacity of Hope’ – Read Obama’s book – a chance to blossom and flower in our beautiful country. It can be done, it must be done! I know many Guyanese are silently hoping for a miracle to deliver us from political bondage, evil, and many other ‘baggage’ but this can only happen if they help themselves by voting in a new government of the people and for the people.
They need to also not split the vote and give this ‘new kid on the political block’ a solid mandate to govern. Have no doubt that if the vote are split then we will still be in peril since the two ‘dinosaurs’ in the interest of self preservation will team/gang-up on the AFC to stymie their programmes should they be the party with most votes.
Guyanese I plead with you do not vote for the PPP or the PNC since that will split the vote. Cast your ballot for the party with a vision for the future – the AFC! I will leave you with 10 reasons why you should not split the vote but vote for the AFC.
1. If the PNC wins sugar cane fields will start to burn again and agriculture will suffer.
2. A vote for the PNC will see reverse discrimination with the resources of the state.
3. Voting PNC ensures and perpetuates ‘Poverty Not Certainty.
4. If the PPP wins Guyana will become the most corrupt nation in the West.
5. A vote for the PPP is a vote for drug trafficking.
6. Voting PPP ensures and perpetuates ‘Plenty Poor People’.
7. An AFC government will guarantee a deserving break from the sordid past.
8. A vote for the AFC will guarantee security and jobs my fellow Guyanese, jobs!
9. If the AFC wins Guyana wins – If the PNC wins the PNC wins; If the PPP wins then the PPP wins.
10. Voting AFC ensures Guyanese ‘A Fruitful Country’.Guyanese, please I implore you, do not split the vote!
