Members of the Regional Dioceses of the Mother’s Union in Essequibo, yesterday, donated personal hampers and treated the inmates at the New Opportunity Corps to lunch.
The annual feature is normally executed in December but Regional Officer of the Mother’s Union, Corleen Steaman, said that they were forced to push back the occasion to a later date because of other engagements.
The 150 inmates performed items of inspirational songs. Mrs. Steaman urged the children to be ‘obedient’.
“Because of disobedience you are here, so I am urging you to be obedient.”
Each of the children was presented with a personal hamper and a snack.
