The Berbice Cricket Board is sparing no effort to make sure that their Cellink Senior Inter County Twenty20 team is fully prepared to successfully defend their Inter County Title in the Guyana Cricket Board Carib/Pepsi Tournament which started yesterday.
The team under the guidance of Captain Assad Fudadin, Coach Adrian Amsterdam and Manager David Black has been training since Tuesday at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
They came up against Berbice ‘A’ in a practice game on Tuesday while on Wednesday the Berbice Cricket Board obtained the services of Sports Conditioning Specialist KezQweyah Yisreal to get the players in top physical condition for the tournament.
Yisreal, who is the co-founder of the Genesis Fitness Express spent the day working with the team on an individual basis and then as a unit in an effort to make sure that they are in top shape. He expressed satisfaction at the condition of the players but urged that more work be done on an individual basis by some of them.
Chairman of the Berbice Cricket Board Special Events Committee and PRO Hilbert Foster stated that the Board under its Cellink sponsorship has the financial resources to prepare its team properly and securing the services of Mr. Yisreal is just one of several new innovations that would be undertaken during the New Year.
Foster also disclosed that Narsingh Deonarine would be available to play for the County for the entire tournament after he had informed the Manager that he would not be playing in the USA T20 tournament.
The full Cellink Berbice Team: Assad Fudadin (Captain), Sewnarine Chattergoon, Richard Ramdeen, Narsingh Deonarine, Keith Fraser, Royston Crandon, Jonathan Foo, Delbert Hicks, Devendra Bishoo, Esuan Crandon, Michael Newland, Veerasammy Permaul, Krisendat Ramoo, Keon Joseph and Devon Clements.
