Dear Editor,
With the sixes cricket festival organized by Sherwin “Umpireawo” Graham to be held in Linden for the first time a mere two weeks away, I am calling on the government and corporate Guyana to come on board and fully support this cricket event in Linden.
The game isn’t played much in Linden due to the lack of sponsorship for sports as well as Government support. I have not seen half of the $300,000 to promote this event.
This format of the game have never been play in Linden before so the teams will and happy to take part in this festival.
The festival will be lots of funs with each team trying hard to outscore each other and come away the first ever Linden sixes champion.
If all goes well, the festival will be held early next year. I thank all sixteen teams for their willingness to take part in this festival.
The festival will be held on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th December, 2010 at Christianburg Community Centre Ground, Maria Elizabeth Mines Ground and Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.
The super sixteen will be held on held on Saturday 11th December at Christianburg Community Centre Ground and Maria Elizabeth Mines Ground, with the remaining eight teams doing battle at Mackenzie Sports Club Ground Linden on Sunday 12th December, 2010.
I must express my gratitude to Linden Utility Service Co-op Society Limited and Linmine Secretariat for coming on board and supported this festival, I would like to encourage other business establishments to follow in their footstep and come on board for this event.
The teams that will be taking part in this festival are: Christianburg, Bayroc, Coomacka, Young Achiever, West Watooka, Genesis, Classic, Uprising, Royal Champion, Mackenzie Sports Club, Bosai, Endeavour, Ituni, Maturio, Kwakwani and Malali.
