Suspected sex predator in custody
FORT CANJE, BERBICE – A 29-year old man who was caught having sexual intercourse with a 13-year old girl is now in police custody.
The man, who is said to be a painter and a private/hire car driver from East Canje, is suspected to prey on young girls. Police reports so far have reveal that about 16:30 hours on November 26th, a patrol was in the vicinity of the Canje Bridge when they discovered five cars parked under the bridge on the New Amsterdam side. As they got closer, ranks realized that the man was having sex with the child. He reportedly told police the girl was 18-years old. They both were taken to the Central Police Station where he remains in custody. Ranks subsequently informed the girl’s parents that she was at the police station. Investigations are ongoing.
