No second chance for the doctor!
Dear Editor,
I don’t know Mr. Vishnu Bisram and I’m in no position to pass judgment on him regarding his competence as a letter writer.
But in light of his recommendation and petitioning of Dr. Persaud (in the Kaieteur News, November 14th edition), to be given a chance is an absolutely absurd and ridiculous position to publically declare.
I give him an “A” for making a fool of himself as he eloquently makes a case to justify Dr. Persaud’s explanations, using cultural practices as examples as why we should vindicate him.
Dr. Persaud is a convicted felon of sexually abusing children – end of matter!
We recently saw the despicable incompetence and mismanagement of the Ministry of Human Services and Child Welfare under the leadership of Minister Priya Manichand that failed our children miserably, which resulted in a recent death of a Queen’s College student.
There have been far too many times when we have seen abuses to our children at the hands of police; perfect example is where, recently, a teenage boy was tortured by burning on the pelvis area.
Justice for All party leader, Mr. CN Sharma, man of the people, is also charged with abusing our fragile children. What’s next Mr. Bisram? Would you like to recommend anything else?
We have seen the judicial system fail our children by allowing case folders to go missing. We have seen payoffs and bribes to the impoverished children to stay quiet.
We have to stop all this nonsense and reject Mr. Bisram’s position, as he always seems to think that he know what is right.
Protecting our children starts now and we have got to be strong and united; after all, these children are our country’s future.
The State is failing us by not performing the right credentialing, when hiring potential candidates for jobs. We have seen situations where, in this case, the doctor was hired without the proper background check as with the case of Mr. Bernard Kerik, a corrupt New York Police who is now serving time in prison for corruption and taking bribes (which in Guyana has always been part of our everyday life).
We must send a strong message to the thieves, crooks, con artists, bribe takers, abductors, wife beaters and child abusers (including medical doctors) that there is a zero tolerance.
What is this State turning to? Are we really that bad that we have to hire rejects or is it simply that the people in charge of hiring are incapable of and cannot perform the proper background checks?
For the people considering Mr. Bisram’s recommendation, may God be with you when Dr. Persaud abuse one of our already helpless children.
Minister Manickchand is on her second, maybe third chance and I hope she weighs in. It’s time Mr. Visnhu Bisram stop the comedy show.
