Navin Singh blasted 10 sixes and 5 fours in an unbeaten 114 and Richard Latiff took a hat-trick to spearhead Better Hope Warriors to a 137-run victory against Sandust XI as both Male and Female action in General Marine Softball cricket competition continued last Sunday.
Singh got support from Richard Latif (48) and Lakeram Roopnarine (21*) as Better Hope made 212- 2 off their allotted 15 overs. Sandust XI were then bowled out for 75 off 11.2 overs with Latiff (3-15) and Lakeram Roopnarine (2-15) doing the damage.
In the other Male 25-over games played, Mac’s Masters defeated Everest by 10 wickets. Everest made 68 off 20.1 overs with Robin Boodram top-scoring with 28. Collin Greaves took 5-19 and Tony Singh 3-8 for Mac’s Masters who replied with 69-1 off 13 overs. Veno Lall made 25 not out and Danny Mohanram 20 not out.
Success defeated Defenders by 3 wickets. Defenders fell for 82 off 18 overs as Raymond Karim took 4-20 for Success who reached 83-8 off 16 overs. Hafeez Samad top-scored with 29 and Rafman Ali made 16 as Davenand Kannan took 5-25.
Mac’s Masters registered their second win of the weekend when they defeated Enterprise by 126 runs. Mac’s Masters reached 186-9 off their allotted 20 overs as Dennis Mangru made 52, Ricky Persaud 32 and Rudolph Rodriguez 26. Enterprise fell for 60 off 18.2 overs. Colin Greaves took 3-11 and Ricky Persaud 3-13.
Cummings Lodge Veterans defeated Lall and Sons Workshop by 40 runs. Cunnings Lodge Veterans 145 all out off 22.2 overs as Naresh Singh (37) and Albert Dass (32) batted well. Wilfred Singh took 4-33 and Younis Yusuf 3-21 for Lall for Sons Workshop who made 105 all out with Wilfred Singh scoring 20. Kevin Morgan took 5-14 and Noel Madramootoo 5-27.
Young Guns beat Upsetters by 4 wickets. Upsetters scored 142-5 off their allotted 15 overs with Nandshyaan Boodhoo leading the way with 59 and Vishnu Geewan chipping in with 33. Danny Thomas took 2-12 for Young Guns replied with 146-6 off 14 overs. Zulfikar Ali top scored with 79 and Erie Sharma made 24 as Renny Khan and Latchman Geewan took 2 wickets each.
In the female competition, 4R Lioness defeated Ogle Angels by 55 runs. 4R Lioness scored 113-2 off their allotted 10 overs with Gangadai Singh scoring 40 and Nikita Madramootoo and Shaneeza Williams 13 each. Ogle Angels in reply made 58-8 off 10 overs.
Lusignan Street Warriors defeated Ariel Divas by 52 runs. Lusignan Street Warriors batted first and made 116-5 off 10 overs with Melissa Cummings scoring 38 and Dawn Budhram 30. Navita John took 2-22 for Ariel Divas who made 64-4 off their 10 overs as Amanda Mahadeo led the way with 24.
Wellwoman defeated 4R Lioness by 3 wickets. 4R Lioness made 83-7 off their 10 overs with Shaneeza Williams (18) and Gangadai Singh (16) batting well. Victoria Bacchus took 3-3 and Reneka Isaacs 2-11 for Wellwoman who made 87-7 off 8 overs. Onika Wallerson top scored with 31 and Victoria Bacchus 18. Bowling for 4R Lioness, Naranie Persaud took 2-15.
Ariel Divas defeated Ogle Angels by 13 runs. Ariel Divas batted first made 84-7 off their 10 overs. Samita Roopchand top scored with 23, Navita John 16 and Amanda Sahadeo 15. Ogle Angels in reply made 71-3 off 10 overs. Indra Albert and Melda Williams top scored with 18 each. The Over-40 Male competition continues tomorrow while the Quarterfinals for all three categories (Female, Male Open and Over-40 Male) starts on Sunday. All teams who have qualified are asked to be present at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Ground Carifesta Avenue at 16:00hrs tomorrow for the drawing.
