Carelessness leads to collision
The car PNN 75 (above) after the collision with this SUV
Just after 13:00 hours yesterday, this car, PNN 75, was knocked off the East Canje Public Road by a Sports Utility Vehicle. The car was heading to the town from Corentyne, while the other vehicle was heading into Canje.
It reportedly did not stop at the intersection before proceeding into the Canje Road. This resulted in the collision. The driver of the car was lucky to escape any serious injuries.
This accident comes in the wake of repeated calls by road users for the government to install traffic lights at one of Berbice’s busiest intersections, where traffic from several locations (Corentyne, New Amsterdam, Canje) come into close contact with each other daily.
