Woman’s decomposing body found on empty lot

The partially nude and decomposing body of a woman of Blue Berry Hill, Linden, was discovered in a bushy clump in a yard at Matthew’s Lane, Christianburg, yesterday.
The body appeared mangled, and persons speculated whether she might have been mauled by dogs that found the body, or was probably badly beaten and subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
Relatives later identified her remains as Alexis Perreiria. One of those identifying the body was the dead woman’s 19-year-old only daughter, Kezia Dawson. Dawson did not live with her mother but with her grandmother, Joyce Perreira- London at Cholomondley Hill, which is less than a mile from where the gruesome discovery was made.
Asked how she knew it was her mother, as the victim’s face was not visible, Dawson who appeared uncharacteristically unemotional declared, “I know is me mother. I could feel it – and the body structure and the hair; everything tell me is she.”
The discovery was made shortly before 7a.m, by a woman who lives next door to the property on which the body was found.
The owner of the property, George Subner, well known as ‘Georgie’ is reportedly somewhere in the interior working, while his sibling David, well known as ‘Samo’, who occupies the bottom flat, was not at home.
Their sister, Ashanti, who lives next door in the lower flat of the Subner family house (the two houses are on adjacent properties) said that she had not seen her two brothers “in a while.”
“They does just clear out, sometimes we don’t even see them,” Ashanti said when asked when she last saw her brothers.
According to Ashanti, it was her other brother, Reno, who lives with her that called out to her and told her that a body was in their brothers’ yard next door. Reno’s ‘child mother’ Onica, reportedly made the discovery and later called police. Ashanti’s husband, Elwin Gullin, said that he became aware of an obnoxious smell, since Friday night, but thought that it was probably a dead fowl or some other animal.
The victim’s daughter, Kezia Dawson, said she last saw her mother on Wednesday, when she called her to her house and bought some stuff for her.
“Afterwards, I asked her for $500, but she seh ‘Girl, I just buy some things for you; this $500 I got, got to last me the weekend,” Dawson related.
Dawson said that her mother, Alexis, lived a short distance from where she lives with her grandmother.
Perreira-London has been taking care of Kezia Lawson, ever since she was a little girl as her mother Alexis was generally viewed as an unstable character.
Another relative, Mayfield Greene, said that she last saw the dead woman last Thursday. Several other persons said that they too saw the woman on the said day.
One of the victim’s school mates, who was on the scene remarked, “She get treatment like a dog. No matter what she do, she didn’t deserve to die like that.”
The woman said that Alexis Perreira was about 36 years old. This could not be verified however, as her daughter Kezia said that she did not know her mother’s age.
Perriera’s mother was not available for a comment as she was reportedly at work.
