Only national captains to lead Guyana to a Caribbean football finals

By virtue of defeating St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2 nil Saturday November 6, Guyana qualified for their third Caribbean Football championship finals in history.
Skipper Howard Lowe now joined fellow Lindeners Michael McKinnon and Mentor Charles Pollard; both were at the helm when the land of the Mighty Kaieteur Falls participated in the Regional Premier finals in (1991) and 2007.
McKinnon was the first man to lead Guyana to a championship finals in 1991 in Jamaica where the Gordon Braithwaite coached side finish fourth in the then Shell Cup sponsored tournament.
Nineteen years later another Lindener Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard marshaled his troops to the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup Championship finals in Trinidad and Tobago narrowly missing out on a historic Gold Cup qualification. Now 2010, Guyana is in the Finals and again a man from the mining town is at the helm, this time the name is Howard Lowe and this could be the moment of truth.
Something is ominous about these 2010 Jags, their roar have left Paramaribo and Port of Spain in Panic and now Fort de France the Capital of Martinique this year finals host will brace itself for the Final assault. Word around Camp Jaguar is that Head Coach Wayne (Wiggy) Dover Team Song is MacFarlane 1970’s hit ‘aint no stopping Us Now’.
