The General Marine Softball Competition, run by the Guyana Floodlights Cricket Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport continued last Sunday at various venues.
For the first time ever in softball history in Guyana a player has scored three consecutive centuries with Hakim Majeed, who two weeks ago made 134 against Savage, last week against New Amsterdam Masters he made 128 and last Sunday he hammered an even hundred against Floodlights at the GCC Ground Bourda.
Floodlights batted first scored 229 for 6 off their allotted 25 overs, Richard Persaud top scored with 78, Toolsie Sahadeo 48, Ricky Deonarain 35 and Ramesh Sunich 29. Bowling for Success Masters, Hafeez Samad took 4 for 30 and Raffman Alli 2 for 34. Success Masters in reply were bowled out for 145 off 18.1 overs despite Hakim Majeed’s brilliant 100. Bowling for Floodlights, Dharam Persaud took 3 for 36 and Mike Singh 3 for 37.
Shattaville defeated Mahaica Masters by 9 wickets. Mahaica Masters batted first were bowled out for 94. Nickey Seron scored 24 and Vincent Pompey 22. Bowling for Shattaville, Rampersaud Sankar took 4 for 23 and Randolph Pereira 3 for 15. Shattaville made 95 for 2 off 19.3 overs. Linden McCoy 47 not out.
Enterprise defeated Defenders of Parika by 7 wickets. Defenders 68 all out off 13 overs; Nandalall Seebarran 4 for 9 and Vishwanauth Gobin 3 for 16 bowling for Enterprise. Enterprise 69 for 3 off 9.4 overs. Seemangal Yadram 22. Bowling for Defenders, Dhanpaul Birbal took 3 wickets for 2 runs.
Industry Super Kings defeated Savage by 36 runs. Industry 150 for 9 off 25 overs; Hardat Singh 41 and Ryan Bodhoo 38. Bowling for Savage, Barlow Lakeram took 3 for 48 and Hardat Narine 3 for 32. Savage in reply made 114 for 10 in 25 overs. Barlow Lakeram top scored with 37 and Phalim Mohamed 22. Bowling for Industry, Motilall Churnadatt and Rupert Basdeo took 3 for 24 each.
Wellwoman defeated 4R Lioness by 22 runs. Wellwoman made 91 for 2 off their 10 overs. Victoria Bacchus 33 not out and Akaze Thompson 18. Bowling for 4R Lioness, Gangadai Singh took 2 for 17. 4R Lioness in reply made 69 for 4 off their 10 overs. Lotoya Williams 17.
Lusignann Street Warriors defeated Ogle Angels by 9 wickets. Ogle Angels made 59 for 4 off their 10 overs. I. Albert 28. Bowling for Lusignan, Bibi Transitzer took 2 for 6 and Dawn Budhram 2 for 16. Lusignan In reply made 60 for 1 off 5 overs. Melissa Cummings 24 not out and Kavita Yadram 21 not out.
At Skeldon Sports Complex, Crabwood Creek Heroines defeated Corriverton Queens by 6 wickets. Corriverton Queens batted first made 81 all out with Giselle Batson 26 and Paula Williams 23. Bowling for Crabwood Creek Heroines, Marlin Mangal took 2 for 14.
Crabwood Creek in reply made 85 for 4 off 8.2 overs. Yollanda Peneux 33 and Reona Peneux 25 were the top scores for CWC. Bowling for Corriverton Queens Christine Matheson took 3 for 8.
At the NDC Fundraising Tournament at Good Fortuin, 4R Lioness defeated Trophy Stall Angels in a match that was decided by a bowl out.
The competition continues this Sunday and next Sunday Nov. 7 the Guyana Floodlights Cricket Association will launch a Super Eight Open Competition. All interested teams are asked to call Wayne Jones at 225-0994 or 650-1790.
