Marketing Executive at Banks DIH, Carlton Joao told those present that the occasion is indeed a special one and as such the company felt that it should come onboard in a special way to show its usual support for youth and sports in Guyana.
“It’s a landmark occasion and it’s always great to be celebrating 50 years.
Banks DIH is committed to youth and sports. We are onboard in a big way. We thought that we should do some things to increase the comfort of the athletes,” Joao indicated.
He informed that Banks will be sponsoring the event under its Malta, Coca-Cola and Tropical Mist Brands where sports bags will be given to the top athletes and umbrellas to the officials. He encouraged the public to come out and support the athletes.
The National Schools’ Championship will be held at the Guyana National Stadium this year with Digicel pioneering sponsorship of the event. Joao told the media that “whatever support they can give (to the event), they are prepared to give.”
Responding to the gesture, Head of the Physical Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Nicholas Fraser thanked Banks for their contribution, stating that the support for the vision of the Management Team is noted and well received.
