The body found floating in a canal separating Meadow Brook from South Sophia, is yet to be identified. Residents made the discovery on Tuesday. Up to press time no relative had turned up at the Lyken Funeral Home.
Kaieteur News was told that the post mortem examination was not conducted yesterday either. According to police reports the body bore a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The man is said to be of African ancestry with braided hair, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and was clad in a red trunks and pair of blue long pants. The body also bore a tattoo on the upper left forearm in the form of a marijuana leaf with the words ‘Jah Bless’.
Police sources yesterday told this publication, that several checks were made in the Meadow Brook community, but all failed to get anything fruitful.
Persons in the community had told this publication that they heard what sounded like a gunshot on Saturday night, but it appeared as though nothing untoward had occurred.
